Guest Post: Maria from Marias Nail Art & Polish Blog

Hi Everyone!

Today Maria from Maria's Nail Art & Polish Blog will be gracing my blog with her super awesome free hand nail art. Just a quick word about Maria, she writes a beautiful blog that I check first thing in the mornings because I am always so excited for what she comes up with next next. I also had the honour of being a guest poster on her blog earlier this month. Did I mention that she writes her post in 2 different languages? English and Danish. How awesome is that? I can barely write my post in one language LOL.

Lets see what she created for us today:

Flowers via airmail

Thank you dear Karen for having me as a guest poster, I’m honored :) – and hello to all your lovely readers!!

My name is Maria, and my blog is Marias Nail Art and Polish Blog, and I do a lot of freehand manicures, mainly flowers.

The title of this easy mani is Flowers via airmail – the base color is the gorgeous medium blue Essence Via Airmail from the LE Ready for Boarding coll. I didn’t quite expect to fall in love with it, like I did, so I celebrated with daisies on several colors. I used acrylic craft colors for the flowers and the top coat is Seche Vite.

Thank you Maria!

I know I have told Maria in the past, but I just wanted to point out to everyone that she has a great sense of colour coordination! This mani is one of many examples of that fact. She is one lady not afraid of a little colour on her nails and I love it!

If you haven't  yet, check out Maria's Nail Art & Polish Blog HERE.

Also Congrats on your one year & 500 followers!! Check out her cool give away! WHOO!

In case anyone was wondering my first day back at work went well! I am really happy to be back (now that the first-day-jitters have moved on). Thank you all for your support!

I hope everyone is safe from Sandy! Shes blowing hard outside my living room!

Take care,

Karen

Guest Post: Marta From Chit Chat Nails

Hi guys!

Today is my very first day back at work full time. For the past year I've been on maternity leave, looking after my youngest son, Isaac. But like they say all good things come to an end, now I'm starting a new path by returning to work and balancing life with 2 children. Since I knew I would be pressed for time these first weeks, I asked some really great bloggers to help me out.

To kick off my guest post parade we have Marta from Chit Chat Nails. Over this last year Marta has become a good friend to me both through blogging and in real life. One thing (of many things) I will miss when I go back, is having playdates with our kids while we have a good old fashioned chit chat!...heehee... get it? (I may or may not be smiling over my own joke right now)

Let's see what awesomeness Marta is loaning my blog today :D
******
Hello Lovely Ladies,
My name is Marta and I run the little nail-art blog called ChitChat Nails.
Karen has asked me to come up with a guest post while she adjust from maternity leave to the busy-schedule of back-to-work mommy. Karen has become a really REALLY great friend to me. You see, Karen and my husband Peter actually work for the same company (small world right!?!?). We have had a number of occasions to get together, and I look forward to each visit. I gotta tell ya, Karen is an INCREDIBLE Woman and I am honoured to be given the chance to post on her blog!!!

When preparing a post, I thought I would create a look that reflects 'my style' as well as pays a tribute to the stylish-momma that Karen is :D

I started out with three coats of Duri "Hawaiian Honeymoon" (a pinky-coral cream)... mmmh, I love me a soft pink/coral cream. Even though the cold Canadian months are upon us, I still venture to wear some pastels (a bright break from the vampy shades) ;)

For the pinky I applied two coats of the brand new Nicole by OPI "All is Glam, All is Bright". I painted my ring finger with OPI "My Boyfriend Scales Walls" (only the best off-white ever ;) ), and stamped using China Glaze "Sci-Fi" and Bundle Monster BM-314. I used the dotting tool with the Nicole by OPI glitter to add a little bit of sparkly interest to the stamped design.
That is it from me today :D
Karen, I wish you a smooth transition, and I know that if anyone can do it all (juggle work, children, blogging, etc) it is you! ;)

Do YOU sport the skittles look or do you tend to paint your nails all the same?
Will you wear pastels in the fall/winter months?
THANK YOU FOR READING!

Thank you Marta for sharing your talent on my blog! You truly are a stamping queen! I also love the multiple accent nail look (recently dubbed Skittlettes) you work like no one else can. Its now one of my favourite looks to wear and you are totally responsible for that! And another big YES! I plan on wearing pastels in the winter, especially certain "off-white" shades ;)

Thanks again Marta! Its an honour to have you posting for me!

If by some small chance you have not been to Marta's blog yet, click HERE

Thanks for stopping by everyone!

Joby Nail Art Review & GIVEAWAY!

Hello!!
I have exciting news today! Firstly I got to review some really cool nail stickers from Joby, and secondly they supplied me with an extra sheet & coupon code for a giveaway!!! More on that below, first lets look at the product:
Joby Nail Art
I choose to review this sheet of butterfly stickers, this picture doesn't show it, but the designs are HUGE!

Here's another picture I took while applying, that will give you an idea how long the decals are:

And here's how I wore it:
Base: China Glaze Elephant Walk

Please ignore the lovely smush-up on the index

Over all I quite like these! The sticker quality was great, they laid completely flat on the nail, and with one coat of top coat you could not tell they were stickers. I should add that I currently own a lot of nail stickers from my pre-stamping days, and none of them (and I mean NONE) even come close to being as thin as these Joby stickers.

Another reason too love these, is that as a mom on-the-go (and just a few days away from returning to work full-time) it makes precise and elaborate nail art a snap.

Something to note, the pinkie & ring fingers have modified stickers (I needed to cut them down a bit because of the large size).

And the one small detail I didn't love was the fact that all stickers had large scattered holo glitter pieces on them. I needed to add a scattered holo nail polish (China Glaze Fairy Dust) to pull the look together. In my opinion the designs are full of fine detail and shading that it doesn't really need the extra glitter.

Now here's the part you've been waiting for! Joby provided me with an extra sheet & coupon code and asked me to have a giveaway with it. I never held a give away on this blog before, so of course I excitedly agreed! Here's the sheet up for grabs:

The Prize!!
This contest is open internationally!

Go Pink Wednesday: Breast Cancer Awareness

Good Morning,

Sorry I took a bit of a hiatus for a few days, sometimes life just comes before blogging. But I'm back :)

For this edition of GPW: Breast Cancer Awareness, I have the OPI Pink Of Hearts duo to show you guys. Its actually my sisters and she left it at my house to try them out... Thanks T!! :D

Ok let me just start by saying that I LOVE the glitter in this duo! It seemed to be exceptionally glittery and reflective. At first I didn't like the large dark pink hex glitter randomly mixed it, but once on the nail it all made sense. I used 3 coats of OPI Think In Pink, and painted in gradient style OPI You Glitter Be Good To Me (why do I feel like that should be a name in one of the Kardashian Collections?). Next I stamped using Essie Good As Gold and MASH Plate 49 on the base of my nail.

While I had OPI Think In Pink at my house, my sister and I thought that it looked very similar to OPI Pink Friday (from the Nicki Minaj Collection):

OPI TIP: Think In Pink, OPI PF: Pink Friday

While very similar in colour, they are different on the nail. OPI Pink Friday is a creme finish nail polish that is completely opaque and has a "white" effect on your nail. Meanwhile OPI Think In Pink is a jelly that still shows VNL (visible nail line) after 3 coats. I personally think there's no point owning both (well... unless you own TIP to get the glitter it comes with! Then I tots understand), it comes down to your preference of jelly finish or creme finish.

That's all for today! Thank you so much for stopping by!

Halloween Nail Art Challenege: Spiders

Hey guys!

I'm really excited for today, because I'm heading to Toronto to take my kids to the Royal Ontario Museum. They have a huge dinosaurs exhibition on right now the my oldest son will love, check it out if your interested!

And for nails we have spiders!
I used Misa Office Polish-tic as my base and stamped using MASH Plate 38 with China Glaze No Plain Jane. I wanted a barely there look. I added green glitter from the Born Pretty Store.

Here's a blurry picture, I find it makes the purple spiders more noticeable:

Thanks for reading! Have a great weekend :)

Go Pink Wednesday: Breast Cancer Awareness

Hi guys!

Today is Wednesday, and as you may have heard by now, every Wednesday in October a large group of bloggers (and non-blogger too) are posting pink manicures as a show of support!

I have an extra special treat today too, my younger sister is paying my blog another visit! Yaaay! I always love having other people nails on here, and she is starting to become quite a nailphile in her own right. I will keep the number of nail polish of her recent haul a secret, but lets just say she would make a lot of us proud!!
I used a base of OPI Pink Friday, and painted OPI Kiss Me On My Tulips on the tips. Then I added Pretty and Polished Flow to the index and ring fingers. I used KKCenterHK water decals on the remaining nails (10% off with the code: nailcall).

And here's Theresas look:
She used the OPI Pink Of Hearts set that OPI released for BCA. The red is OPI The Spy Who Loved Me, which she claims is: The. Best. Red. Ever. I am going to be put her claim to the test because she forgot it at my house BAHahaha! And check out that ribbon, she free handed it with the brush in the polish!!! That is something for a novice nail painter! I love the fact that she is getting into nail polish, and I also REALLY love the fact she sends me her NOTDs :)

And... for laughs here is a snap shot of what we were up too yesterday while my son was sleeping:

Oh and this was happening too:

Whoa!Definitely not the best picture, but the foil fingers were too good to pass up!
Happy Pink Wednesday to you all! Don't forget to check out the others below, and thank you for reading!

Halloween Nail Art Challenge: Bats

Hello!

I have a super quick (& super late in the day) post. My youngest son is sleeping and my sister is over right now (at least she likes np too, so she understands...pics to come later, HA!). So lets jump right in!

Today is bats for the Halloween Nail Art Challenge:

I did a ruffin mani using OPI DS Radiance, Cult Nails Nevermore (I will never use another black!) and I free handed the bats using a silver striping polish.

Have a great afternoon everyone!!

OPI Live and Let Die

Hi everyone!

Have you seen my newest and latest love in my life? OPI Live and Let Die! I just removed it and slapped it right back on!
We all love our old favourites, but today is a new fave!
OPI Live and Let Die
This is 2 coats of OPI Live and Let Die. It has a perfect formula. Can you see my stamping? Barely! Its in black, so that should give you an idea how dark L&LD is in real life. Stamped with MASH plate 35 and 29 using Konad Black.
Sorry for funny finger placement in this one!

No Top Coat
L&LD dries a little dull so top cost is a must. Other than that its perfect! Did I mention how fast it dried? I am so happy I grabbed it at the last min ( I was originally going to pass). Its so easy to remove even though it packed with gold shimmer. This is the type of shade I can see myself grabbing alot.

Now I will need to compare this to my other favourite blacken teals.

I also grabbed Goldeneye, which is on my toes right now, its SO shiny, I'm using it next.

Are you guys grabbing any OPI Skyfall? Any plans to see the movie?

Ok and I gotta ask, anyone getting the $37 top coat? I will, only if it goes on sale... but right now I have to pass.

Have a great week guys :)
