OPI Pink Yet Lavender

Hi guys!

I have another polish from the Mariah Carey collection to show you today, OPI Pink Yet Lavender. I layered it over OPI Don't Touch My Tutu, because these 2 seemed made for each other. I felt so classy wearing this combo.
PYL is a sparse light pink, and holographic layering glitter. It dries glossy and lays flat. The stamping on my middle finger is a Color Club pink metallic and Konad M90.

This is more of a picture based post than a reading post, I kept it word light today due to sleep deprivation. My youngest son is still not sleeping well, and I am feeling a bit drained. I don't think I have a ability to formulate proper sentences these days. This post is my way of trying to keep sane.

Thanks for reading!

Have a lovely day!

Houndstooth & Bows

Hey guys!

Here's a fun little skittlette I wore for the week. I put it on Saturday night, and its still on today :) Check it out!

To created this look I used OPI San Tan-tonio, Finger Paints Papier Mache & OPI Whats With The Cattitude. I stamped using Konad Special Black & the follwing Konad plates: M3,M59 & M63.

I was going for a fun vintage kind of look. I love the colour combination of tan, white and black, with a little pop from the blue.
I used loose matte black glitter from KKCenterHK (10% off with nailcall). A few pieces fell off so I filled the space in with a dotting tool & black nail polish

I hope you all enjoyed my take on the popular skittlette manicure!

Have a great Friday!!!

OPI Stay The Night (Liquid Sand)

Good morning!

Today I have my final swatch of the OPI Liquid Sand nail polish I picked up, with Stay The Night (the black one). You can check out the other 2 I reviewed: Get Your Number (blue) and Can't Let Go (purple). I grabbed this one solely based on rave reviews from other bloggers (I'm lookin' at you Marta!)

Stay the night is a funky liquid sand (read: textured) nail polish. It has an almost black base with hot pink glitter sparkling though. To many this is the stand out star of the Mariah Carey Collection. To me however, it reminds me of cigarette ash... Sorry, SORRY! I know, rude! But I can't UN-associate this. To make matters worst, I made meatballs the day I wore this mani... and I couldn't get over how germy these liquid sands really are... just sayin'...Sorry, I hope I didn't just ruin it for everyone.

...they're still cool to look at right?

And as with the previous Liquid Sand polishes, Stay The Night is matte with super sparkly glitter. The pink and dark grey/black make a really interesting contrast. The finished look is very of-the-moment and eye catching, it also has an air of sophistication (lol I had to Google the spelling of sophistication... how unsophisticated of me). The shade is not really all that bad, but just not my style. I much prefer the bright, fun, and colourful liquid Sands.

Application was similar to the others, 3 coat and you're good to go. I ha no issues of note... Although I DID accidentally smudge and wipe off most of the polish my pinkie due to my clumsiness.  But the fauly was my own, not the polishes.

In the blurry middle picture, you can see how the pink sparkles & shines from the base. Its pretty cool to see in real life.

I'm super curious to see what you guys think of this colour, along with the rest of the texture trend that seems to be taking off?

My personal opinion, I think its a flash in the pan, and will be outta style by this time next year. I keep saying that I love it, but I think I just love new & exciting nail polish... Know what I mean?

Thanks for reading my review :)

Have a great day everyone,

Karen

OPI Can't Let Go (Liquid Sand)

Hello & Happy Monday loves!

I had a super busy week this past week, and I'm sad to say blogging took a back seat... BUT I am happy to say I'm back with another Liquid Sand polish by OPI to show you all. Today I have OPI Can't Let Go from the Mariah Carey collection. You can see OPI Get You Number (the blue one) HERE
Can't Let Go is a vivid medium purple with blue glitter, large purple hex glitter and lots of texture. The light absorbing properties of this shade are really cool! It seems to draws the eye right towards it, no matter what you're doing. The purple is *that* universally flattering blurple shade that I personally LOVE. The glitter is still sparkly while the rest of the polish is matte. Instead of just blabbing, I'll let the pics speak for them selves.

Thoughts on the "purple one"? (Is it just me that can't seem to remember the names of these new Liquid Sands? I refer to them by their colour!). My personal opinion of these are the same as I wrote in the previous post; I think this is a fun and new trend, but will die out soon enough. For now I am having a great time trying out new and innovative np products, so I love it!... until I don't anymore lol.

Have a great week!!

OPI Get Your Number (Liquid Sand)

Hey everyone!

I'm just going to jump straight to the point and say I grabbed 2 of the OPI Liquid Sand polishes from the Mariah Carey Collection that came out right before Christmas: OPI Get Your Number, and Can't Let Go. I also picked up Sprung (a cool looking brown/rose/gold shade) from that collection as well. I was originally going to pass on these... but who am I trying to kid? Now I want to run back to Trade Secrets and pick up the 2 liquid sands I left behind. lol.

So lets just tackle the elephant in the room, yes it has texture! yes it's matte! I'm still not sure if that's even a good thing or not? but like the magnetic & crackle nail polish stage, this liquid sand is new, fun and exciting... so for now I'm digging it!

I love how this shade seems to be so light absorbing, yet the glitters are still reflective (and holographic I might add!). Its an oxymoron, but until you see it on the nail in real life, it's hard to describe!

I found the even though the polish has a rough texture, it applied evenly, and wasn't that distracting. There were no large stray pieces of glitter to get your hair/clothing caught on. Its like the glitter is dense enough to create a whole new raised surface of glitter, which as a result is: smooth with a gritty feel... am I starting to ramble?

I like how this pic shows the holo particles
Close up of the texture!

I'd love to know what you guys think of these Liquid Sand polishes! I'm on the fence still, but I am totally sold on Get Your Number. Its medium blue base & holo glitter have pulled me in, but the interesting finish has me enamoured.

Have a great Sunday folks!

My NYE Mani

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Welcome 2013! Wow! All I can say is, time flies.

I cannot wait to see whats in store for the new year! My kids are growing & changing so much, its really exciting to think of the year(s) ahead. Also I'm excited for my little blog and too see where it goes in 2013.

What are your big plans this year?

This is the mani I ended rockin' for my little family function (involving seafood and X-Box Kinects... I'll let you know if thats a good combination tomorrow! Ha!).
I used 2 coats of my favourite black, Cult Nails Nevermore, then stamped with 2 polishes from the China Glaze New Bohemian collection: No Plain Jane & Deviantly Daring. I painted both ChGs on the same stamp to give the oil spill effect. I quite like the look, next time I'll try 3 different polishes (hey look at that, a new goal set for the new year lol). By the way, the stamp I used is on Konad M78.

I wish you all the best in 2013!

Have a great night!

Love,
Karen
