OPI Lincoln Park After Dark Suede with Essie Set In Stones

Hello!

I'm still recovering from my super deep break on my left hand, so today I have another right handed look to share. I don't have much of a preamble today so I'm just going to hop right into the pics:

Bottle shot of OPI Lincoln Park After Dark Suede:

OPI LPAD Suede alone:

I'm a little late to the Suede party, but I like how this finish looks, it makes the dark colours seem darker. I know I mentioned this before with the Liquid Sands, but I love how matte polishes seems to absorb light and allow you to really see the colour of the polish. That's something that I really enjoy about matte finishes.  I have the regular LPAD, and I will have to do a comp on of these days.

I knew that when this shade came to me, I would want to gloss it up, I added Essie Set In Stones to my tips as well for some extra glitta!
yep! I always love purple & silver together! :)
Thank you for stopping by and bearing with me & my right handed photos (mistakes and all!). Little things that I didn't think were noticeable are suddenly glaring at me when I up-load to the computer/blog. So THANK YOU for visiting and not running away in the other direction! :)

Have a great day guys!

Skittlette with Roses

Good morning ladies (and gents?)

Today I have a older mani to share with you. I am suffering from some really brittle nails right now, so I am reaching into my vault and pulling out some back ups. Strangely enough this manicure is painted on my right hand thanks to a broken nail I had back then! lol

Shown here is Essie Wheres my chauffeur?, OPI Tease-y Does it, OPI Sprung, and stamped with Rule-DRK-Bx2 plate & Essie Good as Gold.

I was trying to think of interesting colour combinations and ways to wear different colour all together, and this look was my end result.

Well that's it for me today! I hope you all have a great week.

Thanks for stopping by!!!!!

Make Up SWATCHES!!

Hello & happy Friday once again!!

God I love Fridays! Don't you? Today I'm venturing a little out of my comfort zone. As you may remember from Wednesday post, I had an amazing blog swap with Heather. In the package included 2 eye shadow palettes and a lipstick! So for today I decided to channel my inner beauty blogger, and show some make up swatches. I just want to apologise in advance if my swatches or pictures are not up to par as a more established mu bloggers swatches would be.

To start us off I tested the MUA Heaven and Earth palette:
MUA Heaven & Earth
This is so up my alley! I pretty well only wear neutral eye shadow, so I was extremely excited to get new-to-me MUA "naked" palette to play with. Here's my swatches:

Some applied better than others, here's a quick run down: Numbers 1,5,6,7,and 10 were my favourites. I found the shades 1-6 to be the best in terms of formula and wearability. Shadows 7-12 had a few troublesome shades, with #12 being my least favourite (not pigmented and tons of fall out). Poor application combined with the darker (and hard for me to wear shades) causes me to favour the 1-6 crowd a bit more.

MUA Artiste Palette:

The Eyeshadows:
My favourite is shadow #5, its brown, but its the one shade I am going to use the most. Number 4 looks pretty nice as well. One & two had very little pigmentation, and were very powdery.

The Blushes:
I loved all 4 of these blushes, I can totally see myself wearing them though the week. I am not a blush person at all... So these give me the opertunity to play around with some cool shades. My favourite of the bunch is number 1 and I don't have a least favourite. I can honeslty say these were all great on my arm swatch. (I've yet to try them on my face). The highlighter looks like you would need a light handed appliction.

17 Barely Blush:
Barely Blush swatch:

Barely Blush is a nice neutral creme pink lip-stick. Its simple and easy to wear, exactly my style.

I did some comparissons with Barely Blush and lip products I already had:

1. No7 Silk
2. 17 Barely Blush
3. Lise Waiter Stylista
4. Revlon Lip Butter Berry Smoothie
I also have Mac Lustering which I forgot to swatch, but I am positive would fit in with these shades.

Phew! I gotta give the beauty bloggers of the world alot of props right now! Its harder than it looks!!   Thanks for reading if you made it this far... I'll be back to nail polish on Monday.

Have a great weekend!

OPI Breakfast In Bed with Flowers

Happy Monday!

I have another neutral mani to show today. I've been totally feeling the neutrals these days, I think it must be the weather we've been having here in London. One day it's super nice & the next insane snowstorm, rinse and repeat.

But enough blabbing about the weather! Here is OPI Breakfast in Bed Stamped with Konad Special Black Stamping polish & MASH Plate 29.

OPI Breakfast In Bed is a older "Black Label" OPI, which means, to the nail polish aficionado, it has all the amazing chemicals, which are bad for you in it. To tell you the truth I don't see much difference in the formula (please don't throw anything at me!).

Breakfast In Bed is sheer, and would take a lot of coats to build up to be completely opaque. Shown here is 3 coats and I was happy. In my opinion the people who purchase these sort of shades are not looking for complete opaque coverage. So with the coverage issue out of the way, Breakfast had a good formula with little streaking (a notorious problem with sheers).
The only issue I had with this mani was streaks when I added top coat.

Just a simple mani to start off the week.

Have a great day, Oh! and thanks for stopping in.

Karen.

Ulta Into Astrono-Me? Swatch

Hello!

Today I have simple swatches of Ulta Blue which I wore recently. It is a lovely dark teal with a nice helping of blue shimmer. This is the first time I've tried this brand.

Formula of this shade was average-nothing-to-write-home-about two coater.

This shade really popped with a top coat on, it brought out the shimmer that much more. Its shown here with one coat of Seche Vite. Oh I love that Shimmer!!

Wear time was decent, I wore for 2 days with no issues, before removing to starting my Valentines manis. I'd say you would likely be able to get about 3-4 days wear without major chippage.

Its nice to wear a unadorned look once in a while. I love how speedy application is when you're not adding any embellishments as well.

I'd love to know what the rest of you think of the Ulta brand. Any shade you recommend I check out?

Thanks for stopping by!

V-day Mani #4: Happy Valentines Day with Pink Hearts!

Hello & Happy Valentines Day!

My v-day mani is a stamping look inspired by my sisters lovely v-day look that she wore for yesterdays post.

I used the same stamping plates and same idea with different colours. My base is Finger Paints Papier Mache (my favourite white polish, I am so glad Gosia got this for me!) and Konad Special Stamping Polish in Pink.

I am personally a fan of the simple colour scheme of this mani. Its so easy to go over board on Valentines with all the hearts, lace, pink, red ect.

The plate I used was Konad M59.

That's it for today! I hope you enjoy yourself today!!

Thanks for reading!!!

Karen xoxo

V-Day Mani #2 & 3: Purple & Red!

Hello!

Today's post is a double-Valentines-whammy, one manicure from me and a pleasant surprise manicure from my little sister Theresa.

To start us off is my manicure using Layla in Ultra Violet & MASH stamping plates & topped with OPI Pirouette my whistle.
Today I'm showing my right hand, because I had a sad incident at work involving my index finger and my nail. Its all grown back now, but I took a few righties just in-case. I used MASH Plates 39 & 48

Oh! the huge dent in the middle of my pointer... yeah that happened because I'm right handed, and nicked something. I did my best to cover it up with Pirouette My Whistle, but I think I made it worst... much worst, and more apparent lol.

Here's a swatch of Ultra Violet on its own:

Theresas mani is next! She used NYC Times Square (the brightest red we've seen... is there such thing as a neon red?) We compared it to some pinks, and its definitely red, but it had that neon-day-glow quatlity to it. Either way its a very cool shade!!

Ok its basically last call for all you V-day stragglers! If you need to get anything for you spouse you better hop to it! lol

 Have a great day :)

V-Day Mani #1: A Merry Valentines Day!!

Hello & good day to you!

I will be starting to post my Valentines Day manicures, so we'll start with number #1. I was inspired by THIS mani by the Nailasaurus.

This look is very simple and the exact definition of vampy in my opinion. Its red, dark & lacy, I'm sure it fits someones ideal Valentines Day description ;)

I used China Glaze Merry Berry as my base and Stamped using Konad Plate M 57 and Konad Special Black Stamping Polish.

Merry Berry is a beautiful vampy red, I've heard this colour described as Oxblood. The formula is wonderful and pigmented, but I got some cuticle flooding (my mistake- not a fault of the polish consistency) and due to the pigmentation It was impossible to clean up appropriately.

Here's a swatch of China Glaze Merry Berry on its own:
China Glaze Merry Berry pre-stamping.
A beautiful dark red, that could, possibly, maybe, look black in certain lighting situations but I think most people will agree its fairly obvious it's a red. I personally loved the way this shade looked on, it made everything around it look expensive lol. Its such a classy shade, I could see my-self drinking a glass wine with the colour on... and I don't drink wine...usually...occasionally... I had one glass last night... I have a glass in front of me now... and an empty bottle on the floor... JK! lol

If you plan on dressing up in black, I can totally see this polish finishing up your look quite nicely!

Thanks for stopping by today! Stay tuned for more V-day Manis!!

Karen XOXO :)
